We have a cooperative on-call agreement with Central Nova Animal Hospital to provide after-hours veterinary care for our clients.
When Truro Vet is on call:
- Until 12:00 a.m. (midnight), we provide emergency care for both Truro Vet clients and Central Nova Animal Hospital’s clients.
- After 12:00 a.m., we provide emergency care for our clients only. Central Nova Animal Hospital’s clients are directed to Maritime Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Centre.
When Central Nova Animal Hospital is on call:
- Until 12:00 a.m. (midnight), Central Nova provides emergency care for both their clients and Truro Vet clients.
- After 12:00 a.m., all emergency cases are directed to Maritime Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Centre.
Please always call ahead before bringing your pet in, as neither hospital is staffed for walk-in emergencies around the clock. The veterinarian you speak with will confirm which location is available to see your pet.
When we are the on-call hospital, there is no charge for an after-hours telephone consultation. Please note that advice provided over the phone is limited by the information available and cannot replace a hands-on physical examination. A veterinarian may not be able to make a definitive diagnosis or fully assess the severity of your pet’s condition without examining them in person. If your pet requires an examination or emergency treatment, you will be directed to the appropriate hospital.
