We have classes suitable for a wide range of ages and activity levels. Cathie uses a type of positive training called operant conditioning to help owners build a mutually rewarding and lasting relationship with their dogs. Operant conditioning at its most basic involves rewarding behaviours that we would like to have continue while ignoring those we would like to have cease. Cathie teaches the use of a “clicker” to make a sharp sound to identify the exact behaviour we want to reinforce. Initially the sound of the clicker is paired with a food reward, to help your dog learn that the “click” is something worth working for! Though the concept is basic, it takes a lot of practice in clicker technique for this type of training to be successful.

PUPPY PARTIES
This is a free 1 hour socialization class for your new addition. Your puppy will have the opportunity to learn appropriate play behaviours with his/her peers. In addition to this your puppy will have the opportunity to be exposed to and handled by a variety of people and be exposed to some very interesting new things. These parties are available to puppies once they have the Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccine and they are allowed to attend until they reach 14 weeks of age. And did we mention that they are FREE? They are held every Monday night at 6 p.m. Please give us a call if you would like to attend.

PUPPY CLASS
This 6 session course is a getting started class for puppies under 6 months of age. This will get your pup started on the basics and also cover many common puppy behaviours like house training, crate training and chewing. this class is structured to run on a continuous intake basis. This means you do not have to go on a waiting list to get started, you can join whenever you are ready. Another benefit to this class is that we give each participant 8 weeks to finish the 6 session course.

MANNERS
This 8 session course is a basic obedience class for dogs over 6 months of age. This course will get your dog started in the basics of sit, down, come and stay. This class is structured to run on a continuous intake basis. This means you do not have to go on a waiting list to get started, you can join whenever you are ready. Another benefit to this class is that we give each participant 10 weeks to finish the 8 session course.

LEVEL 1 OBEDIENCE
For dogs and trainers who have a good understanding of operant conditioning. We will put the skills learned in Manners class to the test and add more traditional obedience behaviours.

LEVEL 2 OBEDIENCE
This class is designed for people who want to take their dogs training to the next level. Together we will work to create reliability in the skills that you and your dog have learned in previous levels.

RALLY OBEDIENCE
Rally obedience (also known as Rally or Rally-O) is a dog sport based on obedience. Rally-O goes beyond basic heeling by interspersing over forty obedience movements with the sits, turns and paces of traditional heeling. A brisk pace, positive attitude and happy demeanor are essential for this class.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
Completion of Manners or Puppy Class is the pre-requisite for this course. this is an 8 session course and has a specific start date. This class will focus on many behaviours that re needed in daily life. These behaviours would include learning to accept a friendly stranger, sit politely for petting, walk on a loose leash, stay, come, reaction to other dogs, reaction to distractions and many more.

STAY PROOFING
Completion of Manners or Puppy class is a pre-requisite for this course. This 4 session course is to work on stays and is recommended for dogs voer a year old. Through positive reinforcement and a series of tried and true small steps your dog will learn to stay in place.

ROUND TOWN
Completion of Manners or Puppy Class is a pre-requisite for this course. This 4 sessions course is to work on stays and is recommended for dogs over a year old. This course is designed to provide you and your dog with the opportunity to build the skills to have a well behaved dog where ever you go.
