What We Do

Truro Veterinary Hospital is a full service Hospital. This means we provide both medical and surgical care. We also provide grooming services and dog training classes.

Slim Fit
Slim Fit is a program designed to help you help your overweight pet to loose weight.
Did you know:
 Over 40% of cats and dogs are overweight
 As little as 10 minutes of exercise a day, as part of a weight loss program, can help your cat or dog lose weight
 Reducing you cat's weight by 1 pound, or your dogs weight by 2.5 pounds can be equivalent to a person losing 15 pounds
 Feeding several small measl a day may contribute to faster weight loss.

Slim Fit Success Storey
Maxwell, an eight-year-old yellow lab, started the slim fit program last March at 42.7 kg (94 lb) and a Body Condition Score of 5 (obese). Following a change in diet, increased exercise and regular weigh-ins, Maxwell achieved his target weight of 30.0 kg (66lb). His family says, “With the Slim Fit program and daily exercise Maxwell’s energy level and his mobility improved greatly. Plus he was never hungry on the low cal food and he reached his goal weight in no time.”

Congratulations Maxwell!

We currently do not have a groomer here at TVH.

Training Classes
Our training classes are positive reinforcement based classes, and are taught by our trainer, Cathie. Please call to find out when the next class is beginning. (902) 893-2341. For more information on what Cathie is offering for classes please click here. These classes will be held in the down stairs area of the Truro Vet Hospital. New classes will begin on an ongoing basis.

Due to a tight schedule, those interested in a behaviour consultation will be given an appointment with the hospital’s Behaviour Consultant.

Puppy Parties
This is a free ½ hour socialization class for your new addition. Your puppy will have the opportunity to learn appropriate play behaviors with his peers. In addtion to this your puppy will have the opportunity to be exposed to and handled by a variety of people and be exposed to some very interesting new things. They are available to puppies between the ages of 8 and 14 weeks (as long as the puppy has had its initial vaccines) and are FREE. They are held every Monday night at 6 p.m.

Please Note: Every pet must have had their initial vaccinations before attending any of our classes. Please bring either a updated health booklet or a vaccination certificate with you to each class.
